November in Takoma Park would hardly be complete without a visit from Tomas "Eaglebear" Shash and at least some of his nine children. They have been regulars at the Takoma Park Maryland Library for quite a few years People keep asking for them to come back. Tomas and his family live in on the land in Gardner, Colorado. They are a part of the Aztlan Native American Cultural Arts Center, which does not appear to have a web address (no surprise!)
Tomas and the children ( a number of them all grown up now, and even married) talk about their life as they strive to maintain values of family, honor, and love of the land and to preserve stories and dances that could so easily be lost.
Join us on Monday, November 7, at 7:30 in the Children's Room. Thanks to the Friends of the Takoma Park Maryland Library who are wonderful about bringing this kind of program to our community.
