Countdown to Harry Potter 7
Now!
What are you doing to celebrate the release of the final Harry Potter book? We're hosting two Harry Potter events at the Library -- a Harry Potter "Read-a-thon" on Saturday July 21, and a party on Monday evening, July 30. Both events are sponsored by the Friends of the Takoma Park Md. Library, and organized by Raphael Grimes as his bar mitzvah community service project.
Join us on July 21 to hear Jim Dale read the newest book,
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows , from the brand new CD. Bring pillows, blankets and plan to stay all day or just for a few hours. You can listen to the CD, or read your own copy of the book, surrounded by other Harry Potter fans. Pizza will be provided at lunchtime for those who sign up ahead of time. And we'll do a drawing, with the winner getting a copy of the new book.
Then, on Monday evening July 30 from 6:30-9 p.m., we're hosting a
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows party. We'll have lots of fun activities, including Harry Potter Jeopardy, fortune telling, a make your own spells and potions contest, performances of skits from the books and movies by local kids and adults (you can sign up at the library to do this), and Harry Potter themed desserts (sign up at the desk if you want to bring these). Prizes, including a copy of the new book on CD will be awarded. Come in costume! There will be awards for the best one.
For more information, or to sign up for one or both events, call 301-891-7259.
