If you are reading library books on a Kindle, please look at this. Amazon is monitoring your reading.
If you care about the recording of people's reading habits, you can instead choose an e-book reader that doesn't connect directly to the Internet, or one that lets you turn the connection off: Sony, Kobo, Aluratek, etc. And probably Nook.
If you want to check out e-books, you can do so online with library card numbers from PG, Montgomery, DC and Arlington. Takoma Park residents are entitled to free cards from all of them. Just be sure to find out your PIN when you pick up your card.
If you want to use your device to access digital books, magazines, etc. as streaming media, or sitting in the cloud instead of downloaded, please try our many offerings. Although they require a tablet, computer, e-reader or smart phone, as well as an Internet connection, no information linking you to the text is being saved. And you won't have to wait for anything, we allow multiple, simultaneous access.
