Come celebrate the Takoma Park Maryland Library’s 80th birthday with cake and lemonade on Wednesday, Dec. 16 at 7 p.m. in the Library !
Then, at 7:30 p.m., you are invited to attend a public meeting in the Community Center where the latest concept design for the proposed Library renovation/expansion will be detailed by architect Greg Lukmire of the Lukmire Partnership.
Meanwhile, we’ll be celebrating the Library’s birthday throughout the week of Dec. 13 with give-aways and a special craft program. We will also be inviting patrons of all ages to fill out birthday “cards†telling us why the Library is important to them.
Our thoughts are with all those who loved Anita Datar, killed in Mali. As a community we join with her family, friends, and co-workers in mourning her death. Please read a Takoma Park neighbor's tribute.
Update: Her friends and neighbors have organized a candlelight vigil at the gazebo in Takoma Park tonight to remember her and the other victims of violence in Paris and Mali. 11/22/15 5 pm.
She was an incredible woman. Learn about Tulalans, the non-profit she helped found. The purpose of Tulalens, and one of Anita's missions, is to help low-income women in urban areas obtain quality health care.
